2026 SOFTBALL All Stars
2026 Tournament Teams
We are preparing to form WPLL All-Star teams for the 2026 season. We will form teams from players who participated in either AAA or Majors Baseball.
· 8-10 Year Old
· 9-11 Year Old
· 11-12 Year Old
These tournament teams will each compete in their appropriate District 13 All Star tournament. This tournament will be played in
Deer Park, WA beginning on June 20th, 2026
. Any team that wins the District Tournament will represent WPLL and District 13 in the Washington State All Star Tournament. There may also be additional prep tournaments that teams will choose to participate in. The purpose of this letter is to familiarize you with the details of the All-Star season and the commitment it requires from players and their families. Our goal is to clearly communicate the All Star expectations in order to optimize the All-Star experience.
The dates and locations of the Washington State Tournaments can be found here:
https://www.littleleaguewa.org/
Selection as an All-Star player is an honor and it gives players the chance to compete at a higher level. The memories made during summer All Stars are priceless! While it is an honor to be selected for a tournament team, there is a commitment and responsibility for both both players and families. Regular attendance at All-Star practices and games is necessary! The league boundaries/School Attendance location are very important for participation on tournament teams. If you have any questions about whether your player is eligible based on address or school attendance, please reach out!
Time Commitment
Practice begins the first part of June after the WPLL season ends and continues as long as a team is winning. There may be some overlap between the start of All Star practices and AAA playoffs. Teams will practice anywhere from 3 to 5 days per week (days and times set by the manager) before game play starts and on most off-days after games start. Practice duration is typically 1-½ to 2 hours.
Practices and games may be held in the late afternoon or evening of all weekdays and at any time on both weekend days. Again, the practice schedule is set by the team manager. Some teams may also elect to participate in some extra tournaments. The cost of any extra tournaments would be shared between all the families of the team.
Financial Commitment
There is a financial expense for participation on the summer All-Star teams. The player participation fee to WPLL is $70. This is to cover the cost of the uniform, which players will keep. Players receive a jersey, hat, and socks as part of the All Star Uniform package. There are some pants available but any pants borrowed will need to be returned. We have financial assistance available if this fee poses a burden. Please call Stacy Ashcroft at 509-294-5341 for more information.
Please note that each family will be responsible for covering the costs of out of-town travel expenses, in the event that the team attends a tournament out of town.
Playing Time
In All-Stars, minimum play rules are modified. Tournament play uses continuous batting order, which means all kids will bat. However, at the tournament level, there is not a requirement that kids play defense. Teams will be filled with very talented players from across West Plains Little League. Players/parents need to understand that players may have a very different role on a tournament team than the role the player is accustomed to during the regular season. The coaching staff will determine the role/position that the player will fulfill to best suit the needs of the team. It is also important to note that the actual game time is a very small part of the overall tournament experience. Practices, travel, team dinners, etc. all work together to create an amazing experience for each and every player.
In order to help with the team formation process, we ask that players register to indicate that they are interested in being considered for a tournament team. Registering doesn't not mean that your player will be selected. It just helps us know that you are interested and understand the commitment required. It also helps us get a head start on the required paperwork!
Please register your player by Wednesday May 13th if they wish to be considered for a summer tournament team. Only players who are registered will be considered at the All Star Selection Meeting.
We are looking forward to a fun tournament season and many more fun baseball memories. Let’s PLAY BALL!
