2012 Presidents Letter

Dear West Plains Little League Parent:

It is hard to believe that we are getting ready for Little League already, and it is harder to believe that we are getting ready for our 9th year of softball and baseball. I hope this letter finds you enjoying your winter and getting ready for some baseball and softball. When I played Little League it was about February 1st when my brother and I started getting that baseball itch back. I trust that it is about the same for you and your kids.

In September our board elected new positions and I was again elected to serve as your President. I am looking forward to a fun and exciting 2012 campaign. Before we preview the 2012 season, let’s look at some highlights from an exciting 2011 year.... read more

New Board Members needed

Dear WPLL Parent,

I hope this post finds you well and rested from a busy baseball season. Most likely you are running kids to football, soccer, basketball, or all three.

I am writing this post to see if there are parents in our league who might be able to spare 15-20 hours A YEAR to serve on our board. Unlike many of the youth organizations in our area, WPLL is 100% volunteer driven. We have 14 people who are very dedicated to providing the best product to all of our leagues families.

This year we coordinated baseball for 562 players making us easily the largest youth organization on the West Plains. This was done volunteers, several of whom did not have kids in the league.

This year, we are hoping to add at least 5 more new board members to our league to help lighten the load for our returning members. I hope that you, your spouse, another family member, or a grandparent would be able to spare some time to help us continue providing the excellent product that has made an impact on so many of our youths' lives.

Please do not assume that somebody else will answer this call for help. Normally an e-mail like this one will only get one response. I am hoping that this year I will get 5-10. Believe me, we need the help.

If you have any questions, feel free email me at  president@westplainslittleleague.com.

I look forward to hearing from 10 people who are willing to make a kids day by providing them with the opportunity to partake in a life changing organization.

Your 2010-2011 President,
Adam Smith

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
