Highlights for the 2009 Majors Softball All-Star Team
Game 1 (July 7)
The ladies of the West Plains continued the fireworks from the 4th of July with an offensive bang in their 1st game of the 11-12 Softball District Tournament, winning the game 20-7 in 4 innings against the ladies from Lake Spokane (Nine Mile).
All girls scored at least one run with the exception of one player. Leading the offense was Cheyenne Wright going 2-4, with 3 RBIS and scoring 3 runs. Brianna Kautzman went 1 for 2, with 2 RBIs and also scoring 3 runs. Hailey Cheevers also crossed the plate 3 times. Maegan Dufour led all stealing, swiping 3 bases.
Shelby Pavao had a good pitching outing, allowing 2 hits in 4 innings, and striking out 8, allowing 7 runs (3 earned). Shelby was helped out tremendously by great infield defense throughout the game, most notably Cheyenne Wright at shortstop and Amy Anderson at 1st base.

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
