Highlights for the 2008 Majors 9-10 All-Star Team

Game 5 (July 6)

West Plains was eliminated from the 9-10 All-Star tournament with a x-x loss agains South Spokane East.

Game 4 (July 5)

West Plains lost to South Spokane West x-x to fall into the losters bracket..

Game 3 (July 3)

West Plains defeated Tri-County (Riverside) @ Woodridge Elementary 7-4.

Sammy Brown and Cory Wagner combined on an 8 hitter with 6 strikeouts and 4 base on balls to move the WPLL 9-10 All-Star team into semifinals of the District 13 District Tournament.

West Plains will next play on July 5th at 6:00 pm at Woodridge Elementary against TBD.

Game 2 (July 1)

West Plains defeated East Side Little League @ Woodridge Elementary 20-3.

The combined pitching of Casey Phelps, Sammy Brown, and Andrew Witt allowed 2 hits, 5 base on balls, and 3 runs.

Offensively, Casey Phelps led the way going 5 for 5 with 4 singles and 1 doubles with 3 runs with 3 RBI's. Also, Andrew Witt went 4 for 5 with 3 singles, 1 triple and 1 BB, scoring 3 runs with 3 RBI's, Olen Sheilds went 4 for 5 with 2 singles, 1 double and 1 triple (one homerun away from the cycle - WOW!), scoring 4 times with 4 RBI's and Harrison King went 4 for 5 with 2 singles, and 2 doubles, scoring 2 runs with 5 RBI's.

Game 1 (June 30)

West Plains defeated Lake Spokane @ Woodridge Elementary 24-0.

The combined pitching of Casey Phelps, Andrew Witt, Sammy Brown and Jordan Colero allowed only 1 hit and 4 walks in West Plains opening win of the District 13 District Tournament.

On offense, Harrison King led the way going 5 for 5, hitting 2 doubles and 3 singles, scoring 2 times with 6 RBI and Casey Phelps went 4 for 5 with 3 singles and 1 double with 3 RBI.

West Plains jumped up early in the game, scoring 7 runs in the first inning and 11 runs in the second inning. All the boys did a great job, very impressive first game!

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
