Highlights for the 2008 Majors Softball All-Star Team

State Game 2 (July 13)

West Plains lost its second game at state x-x.

State Game 1 (July 12)

West Plains lost its first game at state x-x.

Game 2 (July 7)

West Plains Little League Majors Softball All-Star (Bruisers) team defeated Spokane North 15 -4 in the District 13 Tournament Championship game.

West Plains Brianna Dufour struck out 9 batters in 5 innings for the win. Offensively the girls of the West Plains were led by Kelby Wegner, who went 4-5, with 3 RBIs. Steffinie Cunningham went 2-3, with an RBI, Amy Anderson went 1-2 with an RBI, and Katie Fisher who played at the AAA level during the season had an awesome rip that scored 2 runs to allow the West Plain Bruisers to 10 run their opponent. Brianna Kautzman had two great consecutive defensive plays from centerfield to end the game. Great Job Girls……On to State, On to State, On to State………

The West Plains Majors Softball Bruisers will start the State Tournament July 12, 2008 in Walla Walla.

Game 1 (July 5)

West Plains Little League Majors Softball All-Star (Bruisers) team defeated Spokane North 12 -7 in game 1 of the District 13 tournament.

West Plains was led by Kelby Wegner’s pitching, striking out 13 opponents in 6 innings to record the win. Offensively the girls of the West Plains were led by Brianna Dufour, who went 3-5, with 2 doubles and 5 RBIs. Kelby Wegner helped herself out going 2-3, with a double and 2 RBIs. Maleeka Wegner scored 3 runs. West Plains advance to the District 13 Championship on July 7, 2008.

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
