Highlights for the 2008 Majors All-Star Team

Game 5 (July 9)

West Plains lost to Spokane South East x-x.

West Plains finished the All-Star tournament with a 3-2 record.

Game 4 (July 8)

West Plains defeated Bi-County x-x.

Game 3 (July 6)

The West Plains bats stayed hot as they beat Central Valley 11-1 to advance in loosers bracket of the double elemination District 13 District Tournament at Salnave Fields. Pitching for West Plains was Alex Kelly who went the distance allowing 2 hits on 54 pitches striking out 3.

Hitting stars for West Plains were Zeb Klemke who went 3 for 3 with a opposite field homerun and 4 RBI’s, Christian Voitek who went 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored, Alex Kelly who went 3 for 4 with 3 doubles, and Josh Arthur who was 1 for 1.

West Plains advances to play Bi-County on Tuesday July 8 at 3:00 pm at Salnave.

Game 2 (July 5)

West Plains defeated Wheatland 10-0 to advance in the loosers bracket.

Sawyer Sims pitched a no hitter on 74 pitches striking out 9 hitters in a 4 inning game. He was also 2 for 3 at the dish with a homerun. Roman Kissack was 1 for 2 with a 2 RBI single.

West Plains advances to play Central Valley @ Salnave @ 6:00.

Game 1 (July 3)

South Spokane West defeated West Plains 18-6.

West Plains had the first game jitters and South Spokane played a great game. The hitting star for West Plains was Brent Schafer who went 2 for 3 and Christian Voitek who was 1 for 1 with a towering homerun to left center field.

West Plains falls into the loosers bracket and will next play Wheatland @ 6:00 on July 5th @ Salnave #2.

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
