Highlights for the 2006 12 Year-Old All-Star Team

Game 4 (July 13)
West Plains lost to Walla Walla Pacific 6-1 to be eliminated from the District
5 tournament. West Plains finished 4th in the 14 team tournament.
Game 3 (July 12)
Adam Paulson threw a complete game striking out 6 as the West Plains All-Stars came from behind to earn a 6-5 victory over North Spokane All-Stars in a loser-out game at the District 5 All-Star tournament in Walla Walla.
North Spokane jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning before Paulson settled down to allow no earned runs the rest of the way.
West Plains was down 4-2 going into the bottom of the fourth inning when they scored twice to tie the score at 4. North Spokane came back in the top of the fifth with one run, only to have West Plains score twice in the bottom of the fifth and then shutting down North Spokane in the top of the sixth to finish off the victory.
West Plains offense built a 13 hit attack against North Spokane, led by Jeremy Alderman and Spencer Rasier each going 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored and Austin Kelly going 2-for-2 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.
Paulson had 2 RBI and Drew Henery and Jacob Overhoff each added an RBI.
Tanner Gamby picked up the game winning RBI with a bases loaded walk in the fifth inning.
West Plains advances to play Walla Walla Pacific at 6 p.m. on July 13th in a losser out game.
Game 2 (July 10)
West Plains fell into the losers on Monday, suffering a 11-0 four inning loss to Asotin County at the District 5 District tournament in Walla Walla.
Asotin County scored 2 in the first inning, 5 in the second and only 1 in the third to build an 8-0 lead.
Hitting in the bottom of the fourth inning, Asotin County got the first two runners on, and after an out, hit a 3-run homerun to finish the game.
Game 1 (July 8)
Adam Paulson threw a 1-hit shutout as the West Plains All-Stars earned a 2-0 victory over the Spokane South East All-Stars in day one of the District 5 District All-Star tournament on Saturday.
West Plains two runs came in the 5th inning as catcher Jake Wesselman led off the inning with a bunt single. Paulson followed Wesselman with a sacrifice bunt that was thrown down the right field line allowing Wesselman to score from first and Paulson to advance to third base. Paulson later scored on an Eli Majnarich base hit to centerfield.
The two runs would be all that Paulson would need to finish the game as the 11-year-old struck out 9 and walk only 3 in his 6 innings of work.
Paulson also benefited from the outstanding defense behind him as the WPLL team made 0 errors.
West Plains offense was minimal as Cody Ableman got the only extra base hit and besides the Wesselman and Majnarich singles, Spencer Rassier had the only other WPLL hit.
With the win, West Plains advances to play Bi-County All-Stars on July 9th. However, Bi-County did not have a team and had to withdraw from the tournament giving West Plains a forfeit victory.
West Plains will next see action on Monday at 4:00 in the third round of the double elimination tournament.

Next Board Meeting

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
