Mariners Little League Weekend
West Plains Little League was represented at the Seattle Mariners
Little League Weekend on May 21 & 22 by a group of players.
"We took 9 of our kids plus my daughter who plays Little League softball.
So, we had 10 players representing West Plains. They got to go onto the field
and walk the track all the way around with several thousand other Little
Leaguers from all the districts in Washington as well as teams from Oregon
and Boise, ID. They had a great time and watched the Mariners win both of
their games (Sat. & Sun.) against the Padres.
Next year we'll have to plan a little more in advance and see if we can't
get better representation. It was really quite an experience for these kids
to get onto the field and see some 'big leaguers' up close." ~ Ed Franklin
(West Plains Little League Board & Kimmel Coach)

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
