West Plains 19-Run Rally Falls Short

The West Plains Major Softball All-Star team scored 19 in the fourth inning, but it was not enough as Warden hung on for a 36-25 victory in the District 5 All-Star tournament in Clarkston. The loss eliminated West Plains from its first ever All-Star tournament.

Facing Elimination, West Plains jumped to a 6-0 lead in their half of the first inning before giving up 14 to Warden. By the end of the third inning, Warden was up 31-6 setting the stage for WPLL's 19 run rally.

Hailey Crawford was 4-for-4 with two RBI and Megan Anderson went 2-for-2 with 4 RBI to lead the way for the West Plains All-Stars.

Samee Silvieus and Sierra Vijarro each added a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI each and Anna Parker, Heather Stevens and Deb Nielson each had 3 RBI.

The game took over 3 hours to play 4 innings. West Plains Major Softball is in its first year, and in spite of going 0-2 for the tournament, the girls played very well against tough competition.

Asotin County ended up winning the District 5 tournament for the second year in a row.

West Plains falls to Defending Champions

He Is Just a Little Boy
He stands at the plate with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded, the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him, he stand all alone.
A hit at this moment would send the team home.
The ball meets the plate, he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd, with some boos and hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries, "Strike out the bum"
Tears fill his eyes, the game's no longer fun.
So open your heart and give him a break,
For it's moments like this, a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind, when you hear someone forget,
he is just a little boy, and not a man yet.
