West Plains Falls to Glenwood 8-4The West Plains Junior League All-Stars were eliminated from the State Junior League Tournament by the Glenwood All-Stars 8-4. Glenwood, a league in Vancouver, WA scored 6 runs in the sixth inning to eliminate West Plains in a loser out game. Glenwood jumped to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before West Plains tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second. Max Harris lead off the inning with a walk and came around to score on a Ronnie Miller double. In the third, West Plains took a 2-1 lead. Bryce Dressler walked, stole second and third and then scored on a wild pitch. In the fourth, West Plains added two more runs to their lead. Max Harris led off the inning with a single, and later scored on a wild pitch. Ronnie Miller, who walked, scored the fourth West Plains run when Nick Pacheco doubled him in. Leading trailing 4-2 going into the sixth, Glenwood rallied for 6 runs to win the ball game. Thomas Townsend stated the game for West Plains going 5 innings while only giving up 2 runs and striking out 6. West Plains finished up All-Star play with a 2-3 record. West Plains Falls at StateWest Plains Junior League All-Stars opened the state Junior League All-Star tournament with a 15-5 five inning loss to Cascade. Cascade jumped on West Plains pitching early scoring 10 runs in the first inning. The West Plains All-Stars came back in the 3rd inning, scoring 5 runs before Cascade answered with 5 more in the fourth to seal the win. West Plains Wins DistrictsThe West Plains Junior League All-Stars earned a trip to the State Junior Little League tournament in Woodenville, WA with a 10-2 victory over Spokane South All-Stars in the first ever District 5 Junior League District Tournament hosted at Cheney High School. West Plains opened the tournament with a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over Spokane North All-Stars. The following day, West Plains suffered the same fate as thier previous opponet when Spokane South came from 3 runs down to defeat West Plains 6-5. West Plains finished off the tournament with a 10-2 win over Spokane South to win the double elimination tournament. Once again, West Plains had to come from behind to earn the victory, down 2-1 in the sixth inning, West Plains rallied for 9 runs to earn the victory. |
